Mold and Moisture Assessments
Find the Source. Understand the Data. Get a Clear Plan.
Mold growth is a sign of a moisture problem. Our mold and moisture assessments go beyond surface checks to find where water is entering, where growth may be hidden, and what it will take to correct it. You leave with objective data and a prioritized plan, not guesswork.

It's an in depth, science based investigation of your home's building structure, moisture conditions, and indoor environment. Every assessment is performed by Jonathan Farrar, CRMI, or a technician he has personally trained, and Jonathan reviews all findings.
Most whole home assessments take 6 to 9 hours or more onsite, depending on the size and complexity of the home. We start with a walkthrough of your areas of concern and finish with time for your questions. You don't need to be home, as long as we can access the property.

Building and Visual Inspection
We examine walls, ceilings, flooring, windows, attics, basements, crawlspaces, plumbing areas, and HVAC equipment for signs of water damage, microbial growth, and building defects.Moisture Detection and Mapping
Using moisture meters, thermal imaging, and hygrometers, we trace moisture pathways behind building materials and work to identify the source.Humidity, Ventilation, and HVAC
We evaluate indoor humidity, airflow, ventilation, and HVAC conditions that can contribute to moisture and microbial growth.Targeted Sampling
When the investigation calls for it, we collect samples for independent laboratory analysis. Depending on your goals, this may include dust panels such as ERMI, HERTSMI-2, endotoxin, and actinomycetes, along with surface samples and indoor and outdoor comparisons.Lab analysis is optional and tailored to you. After your visit, we send a list of collected samples for your approval before anything is processed, so you only pay for the testing you choose.

Guidance on next steps, including working with remediation contractors

People often request mold assessments because they’re experiencing:
Musty odors
Visible discoloration
Allergy‑like symptoms
Water leaks or past flooding
Poor indoor air quality
Concerns about children or sensitive individuals
Even if mold isn’t visible, hidden growth can still impact your health and home.
-
Homeowners and renters, homebuyers, families with health sensitivities, functional medicine practitioners and their patients, and anyone recovering from water damage.
-
JF Healthy Homes does not perform remediation, and we do not pay or accept referral fees. Our only role is to give you unbiased data and recommendations you can trust. After your assessment, we're happy to review remediation protocols and contractor estimates with you.

For the most accurate results, avoid dusting for 4 to 6 weeks before your assessment, and avoid using any shower that will be moisture tested for at least 48 hours. If possible, keep pets out of the way during the visit.
